実は最近、「たまたまか！ なんじゃこりゃ」って思うことがいくつかあってさ。
で、今日のお話もその一つね。
最近のマイブーム。それは本のジャケ買い。
表紙に載ってる顔見て、「イイ顔してるな～」「こんな顔になりたいな～」って思えるものを買っちゃうわけ。もちろん金額も内容も読むけど（笑）「顔」が決め手。
Lately, I often find myself judging a book by its cover. What I mean by that is, I noticed that I tend to pick up a book that has a cover with a picture of the author's face, and if his/her face makes me go "Wow, I really like his/her smile" "I'd love to have that kind of face when I get older", I buy it. The price and content of the book do matter, but they are secondary.
Here's one of the books I bought by the cover.
He is a buddhist monk. And I'm not a buddhist, but I really like his face!

でね、ちょっと前に、球舞練習帰りにふっと立ち寄った本屋でこれも購入したの↓
On my way home from CUBE's practice session, I dropped by a bookstore to kill time before the next train, and came across this book. I couldn't resist his face.
People call him "Kin-chan" with love and respect.
He is a legendary Japanese comedian/celebrity from my parents' generation, who once had more than a few highest-rated TV shows in his prime. Here in this book, he talks about how you should never give up on yourself when things are tough, and how you can bring good luck into your life in the midst of adversity/make your own luck, etc...
で、毎晩寝る前に欽ちゃんのこの本呼んで、「へ～」「スゲー」「イイこと書くよな～」「オレもがんばろ～」なんて感心＆感動してたの。
I was immediately drawn to his stories and couldn't put it down until I finished it. And every night before bed, I'd read the book again and again hoping some of his positive attitude/work ethic/luck would rub off on me. And next thing you know,......
したらね。ブルブル。ブルブル（携帯）。You got a mail!ですよ！
マネージャー「来週の月曜、欽ちゃんとロケが入りました。空いてますか？」
オレ「は？」「欽ちゃんて、この本の？」「空いてます空いてます（笑）」
One morning, I get an email from my manager that says " You have a TV shoot with Kin-chan next Monday. Are you available?". My jaw fell to the floor.
I went...."What the hell!!!" "Am I available? "
How wrong that question sounded!!
I don't remember being so available in my entire life. "Yes, sir!", so I responded quickly.

しかし、ビックリした。
わざわざ本から出てきて教えてくれなくてもいいのにね（笑）。
分かったよ。欽ちゃん。あきらめなきゃ、ミラクル起こるんだね。
オレもそう伝えていくよ。
Weird things happen in life. But this one... What can I tell you?
I guess Kin-chan went out of his way and popped out of the book so he could prove his point in a very direct way.
I got it, Kin-chan. Miracles do happen if we don't give up.
Now I'll live my life to pass that on.
